COMMON GROUND RESIDENCY
October 30th – 5th November 2015
Common Ground Residency will bring together 13 artistic practitioners in a lodge in Braemar, within the Cairngorms National Park, for a week long programme based on ideas of exchange, openness and connection. Within this period everyone will have the opportunity to experiment and develop new work within this remote setting, whilst also taking part in the Common Ground programme that includes discussions, walks, workshops and group crits. This residency is aimed at creatives from all backgrounds who are looking to examine, develop and reflect upon their creative practices.
Common Ground Residency offers a unique environment in which to research and make, with a strong connection to nature, as well as material inspiration through planned activities. Conviviality, conversation and exchange are at the heart of the residency, and participants will take part in group meals each day and sleep in shared rooms within the Braemar home or wigwam. Within this critical sanctuary, residents will also have the opportunity to experiment and present work in the modular ‘White Cube’ space on site and throughout the home and surrounding landscape. An event/exhibition will also take place in Scotland in 2016 as part of the residency outcomes.
