COMMON GROUND RESIDENCY 2017
27th October – 3rd November 2017
DEADLINE – Midnight 20th September 2017
The Common Ground Residency 2017 is an 8 day programme that will bring together 13 artistic practitioners to a shared home in Braemar within the Cairngorms National Park, in the Scottish Highlands. During the residency period, participants will have the opportunity to experiment and develop new work within this remote setting, whilst also taking part in the Common Ground programme that includes discussions, walks, workshops and group crits. This residency is open to artists, designers, writers, musicians, makers and thinkers from all backgrounds who are looking to examine, develop and reflect upon their creative practices.
Common Ground Residency offers a unique environment and framework in which to explore, research and make. Conversation and exchange are at the heart of the residency, and participants will take part in group meals each day and sleep in shared rooms within the Braemar houses or Unimog motorhome. Residents will also have the opportunity to experiment and present work in the ‘Outhouse’ space on site and throughout the homes and surrounding landscape. An event/exhibition will also take place in Scotland in 2018 as part of the residency outcomes.
Participation in Common Ground Residency costs £225, which includes 7 nights shared accommodation with an 8 day programme of residency activities and all meals throughout the week cooked by our resident artist-chef Stéfan Tulepo. Accommodation includes shared bedrooms, shared bathrooms, group lounge and kitchen, garden, sauna and hot-tub access. Participants are responsible for travel costs and arrangements, any required travel insurance, and artistic materials. The residency runs from Friday 27th October – Friday 3rd November 2017.
