March 29th – 1st May 2016
Common Ground presents PIVOT, an exhibition of new artwork by 14 national and international artists, created since their participation in Common Ground Residency 2015. Exhibiting artists are: Ellie Barrett, Hazel Dunn, Emma Ewan, Caterina Gobbi, Sam Hewland, Tom Holland, Caroline Inckle, Nikki Kane, Maria McKinney, Caitlin Merrett King, Nora Sandman, Bobby Sayers, Beatrice Searle and Stéfan Tulepo.
We will be auctioning many of the artworks within the show to help fund further events during our opening event on Saturday 2nd April 2016. The silent auction will open from Tuesday 10am 29th March and close at 9pm Saturday 2nd April during the event. The exhibition spans over the Glasgow International Festival and artworks will stay on show until Sunday 1st May 2016.
PIVOT follows from the first Common Ground Residency which took place in Braemar in the Scottish Cairngorms in November 2015. During the residency the artists came together to reflect upon and experiment with their creative practices, taking part in discussions, workshops and explorations into the surrounding landscape. The fast-paced residency functioned as a testing site for new ideas and new directions within their creative practices. This exhibition features evidence of the ideas being explored during this period and artworks formed from these since.
We would like to thank The Project Café for hosting the exhibition and events, Hazel Dunn for the illustrations created for the promotional material, all of our resident artists involved, and to all that support us through the purchasing of artworks.
